Texas A&M Opponent First Look: Mississippi State Bulldogs

Ranked #16 in BCS after destroying the Auburn Tigers, the Fightin Texas Aggies head to Starkville, Mississippi to take on the #15 Bulldogs. Coach Dan Mullen's team is coming off their first loss of the season; a 38-7 loss to the Alabama Crimson Tide. In a game that will carry a lot of weight in bowl selections, the Aggies will have their hands full with a talented, and well rounded Bulldog squad. We take a look at the players to watch for Mississippi State:

Butch Dill

Runningback:

27 Ladarius Perkins

As Perkins goes, the Bulldog offense goes. The 190-pound Junior has 762 yards on 140 carries with 8 touchdowns. He is averaging 95.2 yards/game which is good enough for second in the SEC behind Johnny Manziel.

Quarterback:

17 Tyler Russell

The 6'4" Junior is 137-233 on the year for 1742 yards with 15 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. His 217.8 yards a game through the air ranks him fifth in the SEC.

Wide Receivers:

1 Chad Bumphis

The Senior from Tupelo, MS is the Bulldogs leading receiver with 30 catches fro 486 yards and 6 touchdowns. He is currently 10th in the league in receiving yards/game and 11th in receptions/game.

8 Chris Smith

The 6'2" Senior is one catch off the team lead with 29. He has 366 receiving yards on the season with 2 scores

Tight End:

32 Marcus Green

The 6'1" 240-pound Senior is a primary Red Zone target and second on the team in receiving touchdowns with 5.

Linebackers:

50 Benardrick Mckinney

The 6'5" Redshirt-Freshman is tied for the team lead in tackles with 59, including 3.5 for a loss and 1 sack.

10 Cameron Lawrence

The 6'3" Senior also has 59 tackles on the season and leads the team with 6.0 for a loss and 3 sacks.

Cornerbacks:

13 Johnthan Banks

The 6'2" Senior is fourth in the SEC for passes defended (breakups and INTs) in large part due to his 4 interceptions. He is tied for the league lead for picks with....

9 Darius Slay

The 6'1" Senior from Itawamba Community College also has four interceptions on the season with one going back for a touchdown.

Kicker:

40 Devon Bell

The Freshman from Vicksburg, MS has struggled this year hitting only 60% of his attempts including 7-13 on kicks longer than 30 yards. He has connected on 29-30 PATs.
