Bloodbath on the Brazos: Texas A&M vs. Baylor Basketball Instant Reaction

That...was ugly.

Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

That was just a good old fashioned buttkicking. Coach Kennedy and the Aggies played one of the uglier, more uninspired games of the Kennedy era (and that's saying something).

1. NO REBOUNDING

At one point with about 6 minutes left in the game, Baylor had 14 offensive rebounds and the Aggies had 14 total rebounds. That's just an embarrassing effort from everyone on the court wearing an Aggie jersey. Sure Baylor has a monster like Rico Gathers and way more height than the Aggies, but there's no way you let a performance like that happen in a big rivalry game for your team. 0 offensive rebounds for A&M. 0. 36-17 was the final rebounding margin. Barf.

2. TIMEOUTS

Everything started falling apart near the end of the first half, and Coach Kennedy seemed okay with standing on the sideline and watching it all happen. I've been plenty vocal over the years about how poor of an in-game coach Scott Drew is, and he looked like Mike Kryzyzewski  out there tonight. After a nice start and some great ball movement from the Aggies, Drew adjusted his zone defense to extend pressure and spot a defender on the free throw line. That was it. Coach Kennedy had nothing to answer with. Nothing... for one small adjustment.

3. FUTURE ATTENDANCE

Tonight was Coach Kennedy's chance to really win back some fans for the Aggie Basketball program. A win would have brought so many more students to Reed for the next home game. A tough, close loss would have been a nice little bump in attendance. Instead, fans on the fence saw a team tonight that quit. Don't believe me on the quitting part? Go back and watch the last 12 minutes of the game. That's plenty of time to close out an 18 point deficit. Sadly, those fans on the fence just put away their remote interest in this year's hoops team.
