Five questions with KTRK's Travis Herzog.

We continue our summer Q&A sessions with Travis Herzog, Meteorologist at ABC 13 in Houston. Travis graduated from Texas A&M in '04 with a bachelor's degree in Meteorology and joined KTRK in July 2006. Before moving to Houston, Travis worked at KBTX in Bryan/College Station. In 2004, Travis was presented with the highest honor bestowed upon a graduating senior at Texas A&M University, the Brown-Rudder Outstanding Student Award.

Here are his thoughts on Texas A&M's 2014 season:

1) What game are you most looking forward to watching?

Nothing beats turkey legs and football, so I'm most looking forward to the LSU game on Thanksgiving day...along with cooler fall temps! It's great to see this rivalry rekindled, and it's time for us to resume the winning streak we had going against LSU in the ‘90s.

(2) Which player will have the biggest impact on the season?

Johnny Manziel still playing? No? Oh. Then I'm going to go with the 12th Man on this one. Predicting the weather is hard enough...predicting what people will do is even more difficult.

(3) What's your favorite tailgating food and/or drink?

Brisket.

(4) Call the QB starter: Kenny Hill or Kyle Allen?

Seriously. What happened to Johnny Manziel?

(5) How many wins do you predict for the 2014 Aggies?

13. It's the only number I'm allowed to say here at ABC 13. If I'm a little off on my prediction, just remember, I have a B.S. in meteorology.

Five questions with KTRK's Greg Bailey.

We continue our summer Q&A sessions with the Sports Director at KTRK-TV (ABC 13) in Houston, Greg Bailey. Greg graduated from Texas A&M in '90 with a bachelor's degree in English and joined KTRK in August 2012 after covering sports in Seattle and Charlotte for 12 years. You can watch Greg on Eyewitness News at 6 and 10pm M-F for the latest information on Houston sports. Here are his thoughts on Texas A&M's 2014 season:

1) What game are you most looking forward to watching?

The one that I can't watch live, South Carolina. The Texans final preseason game is set for the same night so I'll be working. I'm very familiar with USC from my 5 year run in Charlotte, NC. Telling everyone they're as close to LSU as the Aggies will see. Great athletes everywhere.

(2) Which player will have the biggest impact on the season?

Cedric Ogbuehi. His presence and incredible physical gifts will allow the winner of QB battle the greatest luxury a new starter can have - the unquestioned knowledge that his blindside is secure. Big Ced is a physical freak.

(3) What's your favorite tailgating food and/or drink?

BBQ.

(4) Call the QB starter: Kenny Hill or Kyle Allen?

Too close to call. Just talked with Jake Spavital at a 12th Man event and he doesn't know. A long way to go before that decision is made. If it is Kyle Allen and he plays lights out, what does that do for Kyler Murray?

(5) How many wins do you predict for the 2014 Aggies?

I'll say 8 and I think that's a really good season. Nobody in college football faces three tougher road games this fall - USC, ‘Bama and Auburn. Win 8 and you've got some quality wins.

She's got legs, she knows how to use them.

We continue our summer Q&A sessions with Brent Zwerneman who covers Texas A&M for the Houston Chronicle and SA Express. Here's what he had to say about the 2014 season:

1) What game are you most looking forward to watching?

I know it’s an easy out to say South Carolina… but South Carolina. Another great first road trip in the SEC, the unknown of how much this defense has improved in the offseason … Whether it will be Kenny Hill or that other guy (kidding!) and so on. There’s always intrigue around an A&M opener, but this time (like two years ago against Florida) the intrigue is amplified.

(2) Which player will have the biggest impact on the season?

I’m going to roll with defensive end Myles Garrett on that one. It’s difficult to put that much pressure on a freshman, of course, but I spent an afternoon with Garrett and his exceptional coach at Arlington Martin, Bob Wager, and know at least a little about what the young man is made of. He’s ready to make a difference – and it can’t get any worse at end for the Aggies (fans should probably cross fingers at that last proclamation).

(3) What's your favorite tailgating food and/or drink?

Legs. (One of my best friends, Aggie Randal Matcek of Caldwell, vowed a decade ago when we were routinely sampling the bar circuit that he was going to bring back man’s affinity for nice legs. Because, you know, our Dads’ generation highly valued legs, and whatever happened to that?) Honestly, GBH, it’s a good question. Whatever happened to our Dads’ love of legs? Let’s bring back that appreciation.

(4) Call the QB starter: Kenny Hill or Kyle Allen?

I’m thinking Kenny Allen. Or perhaps Kyle Hill. Or maybe Kyler Allen if fans can be a bit patient. Honestly? My Monopoly money is on Kyle Allen, but then I lost Monopoly money two years ago when it was firmly on Jameill Showers.

(5) How many wins do you predict for the 2014 Aggies?

I use the highly scientific method of quickly marking Ws and Ls by the schedule upon quick glance and gut feeling, and usually come within a game or so that season. I was way wrong, however, in 2012, in picking 14-0. Not really. I believe I had those magical Aggies (11-2) at about 6-6 or optimistically 7-5. This year? 8-4 (perhaps a bit optimistic) sounds about right, and with a bowl win 9-4 would be quite an achievement for an awfully young (but talented) squad.

Thanks, Good Bull Hunting, and I grew up reading you (I’m starting to hear that more and more, and don’t quite know what to make of it). PS: Bring Back Legs!

Talking 2014 Aggie Football with one of the best.

We kick off our summer Q&A sessions with one of the best college football writers there is, Bruce Feldman of FOX Sports. Bruce is a busy guy, so we're grateful to him for taking the time to answer. I got a chance to meet him briefly at the Chick-fil-A Bowl and he was extremely friendly and down-to-earth, although I believe he was still a bit peeved that they ran out of sandwiches in the press box. Here's what he had to say about the 2014 season:

1) What game are you most looking forward to watching?

South Carolina because I can't wait for the season to start although since both LSU and A&M will be so young seeing them meet late in the year should be pretty compelling.

(2) Which player will have the biggest impact on the season?

Tempted to say Jordan Mastrogiovanni just in that A&M's D badly needed a stabilizer on the field last year and with his added seasoning he could become that but I'll go with Myles Garrett. A great pass rusher helps everything and if he proves early to be a guy offenses need to gameplan around that'll open things up for everyone else.

(3) What's your favorite tailgating food and/or drink?

Beer.

(4) Call the QB starter: Kenny Hill or Kyle Allen?

Kyle Allen.

(5) How many wins do you predict for the 2014 Aggies?

Eight.
