Aggies in the NFL: Week 4

GBH highlights the biggest A&M-related NFL stories of Week 4

Joe Nicholson-USA TODAY Sports

Life is good. Our Aggies are 5-0, and we have a nice, easy bye week that allows us to transition gracefully into Bama we- OH NO THE COMMENTS SECTION HAS BECOME SELF AWARE KILL IT WITH FIRE

Well, then. I won't waste any more time at the top.

5) The Bennetts

Martellus played well in this weekend's win over the Raiders. His stat line was solid (11 receptions; 83 yards; TD), and he made big plays… but we all know that on-field performance is only half of the Marty B equation.

Yep.

Oh, it gets better. You see, Martellus only had the second most ridiculous quote in his own family.

I just…. what? It’s one of the most insane things I’ve ever seen. Just keep doing you, Bennetts.

4) Josh Lambo

First of all, congrats Josh. On a day where kickers across the NFL screwed up, you kept your cool.

Second of all... Josh kinda screwed up first. He missed his first crack at the game winner, but the Browns (who are clearly ignoring direct signs from the heavens that Johnny should be playing) jumped offsides.

If the Browns steadfastly refuse to play Johnny, then I want them to lose in increasingly hilarious fashion every week.

And we are well on our way.

3) Von Miller

Von was fined $11,567 for his lewd dance moves last week, and the fine clearly hit home during the 4-0 Broncos' win over Minnesota.

Miller tempted the league once again after he and DeMarcus Ware split a sack in the second quarter that was negated with a defensive holding call. Miller assumed his position and was about to go through the motions, but held short of the rest.

He’s already shelled out enough money. And he plans to make the next one worth it.

You can see the uncertainty in his eyes. He wants to dance. He wants to. But he knows the cost. So his hips hold steady.

Somewhere, presumably in the executive suite of a soul-less skyscraper overlooking the depths of hell, Roger Goddell smiles. The NFL has one fewer individual in their midst.

There will be no dancing on his watch.

2) Ryan Tannehill

So, Tannehill didn’t look good for the second straight week (43% completion; 2 TD's/2 INT's; a loss to drop to 1-3). Long time readers of the GBH NFL beat (thanks, both of you) might note that I made some claims about Ryan this year, and they don’t appear to be landing. But we’re not even holding steady… we appear to be in the middle of a nosedive. Tannehill is allegedly yelling at practice squad players when they intercept him in practice.

On Saturday during practice, Tannehill, after a couple of practice squad players forced turnovers, Tannehill made negative comments toward them, including saying: "Enjoy your practice squad paycheck, enjoy your practice squad trophy."

Sources say this has been going on for the past few weeks as the practice squad players have been intercepting Tannehill and frustrating the former Texas A&M wide receiver turned quarterback.

The frustration for Tannehill stemmed from the entire situation as well as the Dolphins haven’t won a game since the season-opener. Tannehill is an extremely competitive person, and the struggles of the offense have angered him significantly.

Philbin told the practice squad players to take it easy on Tannehill to not affect the young quarterback’s confidence.

However, that didn’t prove to be an effective strategy.

At face value, that looks rough. While I must admit that this doesn't sound like the Tanny we saw at A&M... there are quite a few sources reporting this. We polled social media to see where the public landed.

1) Dan Campbell

The Dolphins general ineptitude and 1-3 start got head coach Joe Philbin fired and replaced by Aggie TE Dan Campbell.

Gig 'em, Dan. And good luck.
