Aggie Basketball Lands 5-Star Tyler Davis

The Aggies landed a HUGE commitment from one of the best big men in the country.

How's that for a surprise on your Friday morning? Evan Daniels let the world know that 5-Star big man Tyler Davis gave his verbal commitment to Coach Kennedy and the Aggie Basketball program this morning.

Davis is a Top 25 caliber player that was coveted by the top college basketball programs in the country. With offers from schools like Arizona, Florida, Kansas, Texas, Baylor, and Ohio State, the commitment to Texas A&M certainly has college hoops fans doing a double-take at their Twitter feeds. When coaches are on the recruiting trail looking for a post presence, Davis is the kind of player they are dreaming of. He's a big body with quick feet and a highly efficient shooting percentage (he shot 61% from the field during the summer EYBL circuit). Even after losing 100 pounds over the last three years, he's still a dominant force down low.

This is absolutely the kind of player that Aggie basketball fans can get excited about. He knows what to do with the ball when he gets it in the post, and has plenty of post moves to rely on. The Aggie staff will like how high he keeps the ball on the post, and of course a guy with his size and touch are huge in the ball screen game Coach Kennedy favors. After landing Alex Robinson and Avery Johnson Jr. from the Texas Titans AAU team, it will be interesting to see how Davis' teammates Mickey Mithcell, DJ Hogg, and Soso Jamabo (football and basketball recruit) react.
