Imagine, if you will: it’s a 34-30 game (some years in the future), late in the fourth. We’re trailing LSU at home on our own one-inch line and there are only 2 seconds left. The SEC West is on the line. The only way to win the game is to throw a Hail Mary touchdown approximately 100 yards. What does Coach Mazzone draw up? Who will he rely on? Will the referees notice when the ball boys surreptitiously replace the regulation football with a tiny Nerf thing? The answer is that we’ll worry about that when the time comes, because for now it’s just nice to know that we’ve got the option:
