Will Muschamp to coach cross-division rival South Carolina

Looks like he'll finally get to come back to College Station!

Christopher Hanewinckel-USA TODAY Sports

Although it hasn't been officially finalized yet, reports are indicating that Will Muschamp, former head coach of the Florida Gators and current defensive coordinator at Auburn, will replace Steve Spurrier as the head coach of the South Carolina Gamecocks.

Muschamp has previously served as the DC at LSU, Texas (where he was head coach in waiting) and another previous stint at Auburn before accepting the head coaching job at Florida.  He was 28-21 as head coach in Gainesville, including a 17-15 SEC record in four seasons.

Many Aggies will remember Muschamp's opinion on College Station prior to the Gators' visit in 2012 when he threw a little shade:

"You ever been to College Station?" Muschamp said. "It'll be the only time you go."

Looks like Coach Boom had a change of heart after winning in his last two visits and missed having Aggies as a rival. See you in 2017!
