Directly on the heels of the news that we cancelled the Oregon series in 2018-19, word was announced that we'd added Clemson for those two seasons instead, according to Bruce Feldman of Fox Sports.
The Aggies and Tigers have squared off before in a home-and-home series in 2004-2005 that saw each team win their home game. The Ags took down Clemson at Kyle Field with a solid 27-6 victory in September of 2004, and lost the return trip to Clemson on opening night in 2005 on an agonizing last-second field goal that kind of set the tone for a disappointing season. The Ags are 3-1 all time against the Tigers.
Texas A&M will now face a "Power 5" team in non-conference in each of the next five seasons:
- 2015: Arizona State
- 2016: UCLA
- 2017: UCLA
- 2018: Clemson
- 2019: Clemson
We'll also play Notre Dame in 2024-2025, maybe.
Visit the Clemson blog Shakin' in the Southland to see their non-conference schedule over the next several years.
What do we think? Seems like an okay move since our schedule was pretty PAC-12 heavy. Even though Autzen would have been a great place to visit, I know some folks made the roadie to Clemson last time around and had a tremendous time.
