Mike Elko just won’t stop. The Aggies added their NINTEENTH portal commit on Monday evening, as Bowling Green transfer linebacker Cashius Howell announced his pledge to Texas A&M. He chose the Ags over the Florida Gators.
At 6’4”, 235 pounds, he brings more than enough size to play linebacker in the SEC. Howell played in all 13 games for Bowling Green in 2023, leading the MAC in sacks with 9.5, along with 10.5 tackles for loss and 28 total tackles. He comes to College Station with two years of eligibility remaining.
After losing Edgerrin Cooper to the NFL Draft and Chris Russell exhausting his eligibility, Texas A&M was a bit short on experience at LB heading into 2024 (only freshman Taurean York had starting experience). But over the past month, they’ve brought in three linebackers via the portal. First it was Youngstown State’s Alex Howard, then Florida’s Scooby Williams, and now Howell.
The Aggies now have 19 total portal commits, one of the top transfer classes in the country for 2024.
