UAB transfer CB B.J. Mayes commits to Texas A&M

Aggies continue to rebuild their secondary

The Aggies incredible portal recruiting weekend stretched into the night on Saturday, as Mike Elko and his staff capped off the day with a commitment from coveted UAB cornerback B.J. Mayes.

While Mayes is rated as the No. 30 CB and No. 304 overall player by 247 Sports, his offer list tells a different story. He chose the Aggies over scholarship offers from Arkansas, Auburn, Wisconsin, Kentucky, TCU and more after just entering the portal on Jan. 2.

The Aggies now have a total of 15 transfer portal commits, seven of which are cornerbacks and safeties. It’s safe to say that the much-maligned Texas A&M secondary will look a lot different in 2024.

Nationally, A&M’s transfer class is ranked No. 3, behind only Colorado and Ole Miss.
