Texas A&M QB Conner Weigman has 7th best 2024 Heisman odds

If healthy, the upside for the junior A&M QB is through the roof

The 2023 college football season isn’t even over yet, with the national championship game still days away, but that hasn’t stopped the sports betting community from looking ahead to 2024. FanDuel released their initial 2024 Heisman Trophy odds this week, and Texas A&M QB Conner Weigman currently has the 7th-best odds at +1800.

2024 Heisman Trophy Odds

  • Quinn Ewers (+750)
  • Carson Beck (+750)
  • Jalen Milroe (+750)
  • Dillon Gabriel (+1000)
  • Will Howard (+1400)
  • Nico Iamaleava (+1400)
  • Jackson Arnold (+1800)
  • Conner Weigman (+1800)
  • Garrett Nussmeier (+2000)
  • J.J. McCarthy (+2000)
  • Jaxson Dart (+2000)
  • D.J. Uiagalelei (+2500)
  • Cade Klubnik (+2500)
  • Riley Leonard (+2500)

First of all, it’d a sad state of affairs that among the top candidates, there is not a non-QB to be found. But that’s a story for another article.

Certainly with the 7th-best odds, you would not call Weigman a Heisman favorite by any stretch of the imagination. There’s a reason the top three are returning QBs from two Playoff teams and the two-time defending national champion. That said, the fact that Weigman is as high on this list as he is shows what his potential could be. Not many QBs coming off a season-ending injury with a new coaching staff would be on the radar for the Heisman at all. It’s notable that he is above guys like Michigan’s JJ McCarthy, Notre Dame’s Riley Leonard, Clemson’s Cade Klubnik, Ole Miss’ Jaxon Dart and FSU’s D.J. Uiagalelei.

Weigman flashed early in the 2023 season, and was among the highest-rated QB through the first month of the season. But that was derailed by a broken ankle suffered against Auburn on Sept. 23. Despite impressive performances from backups Jaylen Henderson and Marcel Reed, Weigman is still expected to be the starter when the Aggies kick off the season against Notre Dame on Aug. 31.
