Mike Elko is into week two as Texas A&M’s head coach, and it looks like he staff is starting to take shape. Earlier today we learned that Director of Player Personnel/General Manager Derek Miller was following Elko from Duke, and we now know two other position coach hires: offensive line coach Adam Cushing and cornerbacks coach Ishmael Aristide.
Texas A&M is expected to hire Duke offensive line coach Adam Cushing and Blue Devils cornerbacks coach Ishmael Aristide, sources tell @247sports.— Matt Zenitz (@mzenitz) December 5, 2023
Cushing developed players like star tackle Graham Barton at Duke. Aristide previously worked at A&M in 2019 and ‘20 as an analyst.… pic.twitter.com/ZXuu852vsE
Aristide is a familiar name for Aggie fans, serving as a senior defensive analyst and secondary assistant on Mike Elko’s defensive staff in College Station in 2019 and 2020. He was a position coach for one season at Miami in 2021 before joining Elko in Durham for the past two seasons.
Cushing is a bit more experienced, serving as the offensive line coach at Northwestern for 10 seasons and two at Duke. He was also head coach at Eastern Illinois from 2019-2021.
While we already know that former A&M OL coach Steve Addazio is out the door, it’s unclear what Aristide’s hire means for 2023 secondary coaches T.J. Rushing and Bryant Gross-Armiento.
