4-star EDGE Solomon Williams commits to Texas A&M

Aggies add a high ceiling player at a position of need

Adding to your recruiting class on National Signing Day is always a sweet feeling, and Texas A&M just tacked on a significant piece to the puzzle on Wednesday afternoon with the commitment of four-star Edge Rusher Solomon Williams.

Williams, from Carrollwood Day HS in Tampa, is ranked the No. 209 overall player in the country, the No. 31 player in Florida and the No. 17 edge rusher, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. He chose the Aggies over a pretty elite offer list that includes Alabama, Oregon, Texas, Clemson, FSU, Auburn, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Tennessee and USC.

While the Aggies are loaded along the defensive front, if there’s one spot where they could use some shoring up, it’s at edge. This is particularly true following the departure of Fadil Diggs to Syracuse. While players like Enai White and Malick Sylla will likely be the starters this season, Williams will provide crucial depth and a very important piece for the future.

The addition of Williams gives Texas A&M 16 overall commits, with 2 five-stars, 13 four-stars and 1 three-star. While the Aggies class is on the smaller side, that’s pretty elite as far as blue chip ratio is concerned.
