In their first College World Series game in five years, things didn’t exactly go as planned. Texas A&M couldn’t overcome a poor start, falling to the Oklahoma Sooners 13-8 after a catastrophic seven-run second inning. The Aggies did pull within four runs late, but never made a serious run at getting back in the game.

With the loss, the Aggies fall into the loser’s bracket and will play an elimination game at 1 p.m. on Sunday against the (checks notes) Texas Longhorns. Obviously with the season on the line, this would be a high-stakes game no matter who the opponent was. But I think both fanbases would be lying if they said this game will have just a little extra juice.
The Aggies defeated the Longhorns 12-9 in Austin in March, but make no mistake, all bragging rights (and of course the right to keep on playing) are on the line Sunday afternoon. Buckle up, Twitter is gonna be a hellscape.
