In two years in College Station, Smith appeared in six games. He served primarily as a blocking tight end, but also record two catches for one yard. Pass-catching duties in 2022 were given almost exclusively to senior Max Wright and freshman Donovan Green.
While Wright will be gone in 2023, Smith would still be competing with Green as well as Jake Johnson and Theodor Ohrstrom, two other highly touted freshmen tight ends.
The current running list of Texas A&M transfers includes:
- P Alan Guerreri
- K Caden Davis
- DE Donell Harris
- DE Elijah Jeudy
- DE Tunmise Adeleye
- LB Ish Harris
- RB LJ Johnson
- WR Chase Lane
- TE Blake Smith
Out of these nine transfers, only Adeleye was expected to seriously contend for a starting spot in 2023.
