Emanuel Miller emerged as the top scoring option for Buzz Williams during the 2020-21 season. The expectations were high for Miller moving into next season, but it appears that the Aggies won’t be the team to benefit from his emergence in the future. According to a report from Jeff Borzello of ESPN, Emanuel Miller has entered the transfer portal.
Texas A&M forward Emanuel Miller is transferring, sources told ESPN. Averaged 16.2 points and 8.2 rebounds this season.

This is definitely disappointing news for the Aggies, and it was also followed by confirmation of earlier speculation that Cashius McNeilly has also entered transfer portal. McNeilly was redshirted in the 2019-20 season after a preseason injury sidelined him for a significant portion of the year. He then opted out of the 2020-21 season due to concerns about COVID. Cashius McNeilly is the nephew of Aggies Associate Head Coach Jamie McNeilly, who has been rumored to be connected to the incoming staff of Minnesota Golden Gophers new head coach Ben Johnson.
Miller and McNeilly are just the latest departures from the Aggie Hoops program. With an extra year of eligibility, graduating seniors Savion Flagg, Jay Jay Chandler, and Kevin Marfo have all announced that they will be playing for other teams next season. Flagg is headed down Highway 30 to Huntsville where he will join the Sam Houston State Bearkats. Chandler is headed to South Alabama, while Marfo will return to Quinnipiac, where he led the nation in rebounding in the 2019-20 season before transferring to Texas A&M last year.
We will provide more analysis on the roster shakeups from the transfer portal in the weeks to come.
