Texas A&M entered National Signing Day with an already stellar class, virtually locked into a top ten ranking for the third year in a row (something the Aggies have never done before, by the way). But the class got even better Wednesday afternoon when they secured a signature from the No. 4 running back recruit in the country, Cy Fair’s LJ Johnson.

Johnson is a four star recruit, is the No. 9 recruit in Texas and the No. 45 recruit in the country. More importantly, he is the Aggies’ only 2021 running back recruit, a position where A&M, while having lots of top talent in Isaiah Spiller and Devon Achane, still needs more depth following a rash of injuries and transfers in recent seasons. The Ags beat out the Longhorns in a seemingly two-team race. His commitment gives A&M eight commits in the top 150 in the country, compared to Texas’ one.
The Aggies’ 2021 recruiting class is currently ranked No. 7 in the country with 23 total commits, and they hope to add another player or two before it is all said and done.
