The resurgence of Texas A&M football over the past three weeks has been thanks to improved play across the board. But just as the QB gets a disproportionate share of the blame when things go bad, we are now here to heap praise upon an improved Zach Calzada as he captains this much improved Texas A&M offense.
An offense that scored a COMBINED 42 points against Colorado, Arkansas and Mississippi State has AVERAGED 39 points per game against Alabama, Missouri and South Carolina.
The offensive renaissance has been so incredible, that Calzada, yes, Texas A&M QB Zach Calzada, now has Heisman odds*, according to DraftKings Sportsbook. They are lon,g odds to be sure, currently sitting at +20000. But that just means he’s a value waiting to happen, right? Sure there are 20 players with better odds, but when A&M runs the table to finish 10-2, Bama gets upset by Auburn in the Iron Bowl, and the Aggies shock the world by taking down an undefeated No. 1 team for the second time in the same season by winning the SEC Championship game over Georgia, those Calzada odds are gonna look pretty darn appetizing, am I right?
Let’s just hope whenever he gets invited to New York for the ceremony, he wears the Corps hat.

Jokes aside, this team’s turnaround, and the speed at which it was done, is still hard to fathom. Props to the players and coaches who made it happen, and who kept believing in themselves when so many of us had stopped doing so. The bye week is a great time to catch our breath, but there is still a lot of potential magic in the games to come.
