Texas A&M dominated South Carolina in all three phases of the game en route to a 44-14 win on Saturday night, and apparently the folks at the conference office agreed. So much so that on Monday, Aggies were named SEC Players of the Week in each of those three phases: Ainias Smith for special teams, Tyree Johnson for defense and Kenyon Green for offense.

On a night when Smith was uncharacteristically quiet on offense (2 catches for 28 yards), he more than made up for it as a punt returner. Smith’s electric 95-yard punt return for a touchdown put the Aggies up 7-0 early in the first quarter and they never looked back.
OL Kenyon Green

This is the second week in a row that Green has received this honor, and it is a testament to how improved this line has been over the past three games. The returning All-American offensive lineman remained at left guard this week against South Carolina as the offensive line plowed the way for 290 net yards rushing with Devon Achane gaining 154 and Isaiah Spiller gaining 102 net yards. This marked the second consecutive week for the offensive line to provide two 100-yard rushers. The offensive line also did not allow a quarterback sack on 24 pass attempts.

Johnson only had had two tackles on the night before exiting with an injury, but both of those tackles happened to be sacks. And to say he was the bright spot on a night when the Aggie defense allowed only 15 net yards on 31 plays from scrimmage through three quarters is saying something.
Johnson now leads the team in sacks and is also fourth on the team in tackles for loss.
