We saw significant progress over the course of Buzz Williams’ first year at the helm of Texas A&M basketball, finishing above .500 in SEC play after a dismal start to non-conference play. And while it’s still unclear what the 2020-2021 schedule will look like (thanks COVID), by year three the hope is this program will be set up to make a tournament run. And it seems like they’ll look to test their mettle early.

The Aggies have accepted an invitation to play in the prestigious Maui Jim Maui Invitational on Nov. 22-24, 2021. They will be joined by several power programs in Butler, Chaminade, Houston, Notre Dame, Oregon, Saint Mary’s and Wisconsin. The field boasts a combined 137 NCAA Tournament appearances and 59 Sweet Sixteen berths, and five of A&M’s potential seven opponents in the tournament finished last year in the top 26 of college basketball RPI.
A&M will offer travel packages for the tournament that will be available at a later date.I can’t say I’ve ever really considered Thanksgiving in Hawaii, but it just might be time to start.
