Aggie Women’s Hoops moves into top 10 following win over Texas

Saw ‘em off

With the A&M football team still riding high and pushing for a Playoff berth, it’s easy to forget other sports have started up. But started they have, and the Texas A&M women’s basketball team is off to a great start. They’re 4-0 on the young season, including a win over No. 19 DePaul on Nov. 28, and a huge road win over the No. 25 Texas Longhorns on Sunday.

Even if you don’t normally follow women’s hoops, a victory over the Horns is always worth celebrating.

With the win, the Aggie women have moved into the top 10 in the AP Top 25 poll. The A&M women have finished with 20+ wins each of the last 15 seasons, a span which including three conference titles (Big 12 in 2008, 2010, and SEC in 2013) and a 2011 national championship.

They will finish out their nonconference slate with Little Rock, ACU, Sam Houston, Rice and Northwestern State before kicking off their SEC schedule against Tennessee on Thursday, Dec. 31.
