It’s that time that we all eagerly look forward to each year only pay attention to when our team is nominated: The ESPY Awards! ESPN takes advantage of this patently awful period of the sports calendar to remind you of all of the other times of the year when there are good sports things happening.
(before you attack me in the comments, yes we have baseball and yes the Women’s World Cup is in full swing, but this is still easily the worst time of year for sports as a whole so shut it)
Unsurprisingly, your Texas A&M Aggies’ epic seven-overtime victory over the LSU Tigers last November is nominated for Best Game. It was a game so controversial that debates about the refereeing continue to this day, so memorable that A&M engraved the final score on the bowl game rings, and so fantastic that the NCAA swiftly changed the rules to ensure nothing like it can ever happen again.
