The doldrums in the offseason normally mean it’s time for us to talk about how the Texas A&M Aggies and Texas Longhorns still aren’t playing each other in football, but today we get to talk about the two schools actually scheduling a game against one another!
In men’s basketball.
Texas A&M and the University of Texas men's basketball teams will face off in the Lone Star Showdown at Dickies Arena! Stay tuned for tipoff and ticket information. #DickiesArena #LoneStarShowdown #TAMUvsTX pic.twitter.com/VHjzhEaXQO

It was announced on Tuesday that A&M and Texas will play on Sunday, Dec. 8, at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth. This brand new arena, set to open in November, seats 13,300 spectators for basketball, and is located adjacent to the Will Rogers Memorial Center, just west of downtown Fort Worth.
This marks the first time that the Aggies and Longhorns have scheduled one another in a traditional non-conference basketball matchup since A&M moved to the SEC. They’ve played twice, but one was in a tournament (won by the Aggies), and the other was a preseason scrimmage (won by the Longhorns).
Under Billy Kennedy, A&M rarely had a very exciting non-conference slate. Announcing a game against Texas is a great way for Buzz Williams to get the fanbase excited, not to mention an easy win over a program that - let’s face it - sucks hard and we should all point and laugh at, amirite?
