Hey, want to watch some Aggies play football?

Tight end Cam Clear, wide receiver Speedy Noil, running back Trey Williams, and linebacker Shaan Washington are all playing for the San Antonio Commanders, part of the Alliance of American Football.

BUT WHAT’S THE AAF?

There’s a great article on the website here. There’s also a video.

The season kicks off February 9th and runs through April. There are eight total teams; three others feature Aggies:

Arizona Hotshots

QB Trevor Knight, C Patrick Lewis

Atlanta Legends

OL Avery Gennesy

San Diego Fleet

DL Damontre Moore

San Antonio has the only team in Texas, and is coached by Mike Riley (formerly of Nebraska and Oregon State) and led by general manager and former Cowboys fullback Daryl Johnston. Hometown hero and UT-San Antonio legend Dalton Sturm is one of the quarterbacks.

The Commanders face Damontre Moore’s San Diego Fleet in the opener at the Alamodome on February 9th. Tickets are cheap if you’re in the area and get a hankerin’ for football. Fans can also stream games using the free app.
