EXCLUSIVE: Interview with Coach Jimbo Morrison

Hello, I love you. Let me jump in your game.

@drnorriscamacho

That’s right, folks: you can read it here first. The Seminole Shaman himself has just stumbled in from a vision quest in the Transpecos desert, searching beyond the known Junction for the, like, junction of the Universe, ya know? We visited with Jimbo as he sat in a lawn chair chest-deep in the Brazos waiting for the peyote to wear off and asked him about the upcoming season.

Good Bull Hunting: Tell us what it was like arriving in Aggieland, embracing everything at once, getting your picture taken with Reveille, the whole works? Are you and Rev still pals?

Jimbo Morrison:

She has robes and she has monkeys

Lazy diamond studded flunkies

She has wisdom and knows what to do

She has me and she has you

She has wisdom and knows what to do

She has me and she has you, OK?

.....

I guess I like it fine, so far

Gig ‘Em and Godbless

GBH: You must really be excited to get into action, put all the offseason hoopla behind you, right? Are you ready for the summer to finally end and fall to begin?

JM:

Morning found us calmly unaware

Noon burned gold into our hair

At night, we swim the laughin’ sea

You betcha

When summer’s gone

Where will we be

Where will we be

Where will we be

GBH: Getting serious for a moment, and not wanting to risk looking past Northwestern State, but what are the team’s odds against Clemson?

JM:

Five to one, baby

One in five

No one here gets out alive, now

You get yours, baby

I’ll get mine

Gonna make it, baby

If we try

Gig ‘Em

GBH: You sound pretty optimistic! Do you think Kyle Field might give you that extra advantage you need to pull off the upset?

JM:

Wellsee the thing is

The old get old

And the young get stronger

May take a week

And it may take longer

They got the guns

But we got the numbers

Gonna win, yeah

We’re takin’ over

Come on!

Yeah!

GBH: Love that enthusiasm, Jimbo. Obviously, all eyes are on you in year one in Aggieland. It’s a brutal SEC schedule. How do you keep yourself composed throughout the season?

JM:

Once I had a little game

I liked to crawl back in my brain

I think you know, the game I mean

I mean the game, called, ‘Go insane’

You should try this little game

Just close your eyes forget your name

Forget the world, forget the people

And we’ll erect, a different steeple

At Midnight Yell

This little game is fun to do

GBH: Sounds marvelous, and apparently you’ve been delving into a bit of Aggie social media on the sly, you old fox. Final question. What’s the one thing your team needs to do well this year in order to have success?

JM:

Not to touch the earth

Not to see the sun

Nothing left to do, but

Run, run, run

Let’s run

Let’s run

the dang ball

OK?
