Texas A&M is Home of Offseason Tight End Hope... Does Cam Clear ring a bell? Things are even more serious this season. In the Aggies’ Spring Game junior college transfer and former Kansas Jayhawk Jace Sternberger was hyper-productive for the Maroon team, hauling in eight catches for 147 yards and a pair of touchdowns. On top of that performance, tight end Ryan Renick caught a four-yard touchdown pass.
Back in February, 247 Sports’ Jeff Tarpley wrote an article about the importance of tight ends and fullbacks in Jimbo Fisher’s offensive system. That same dude, Jeff, got this football quote from Jace:
“It’s all about matchups. The reason I love tight end is because they (linebackers) have so much to worry about with the run game. They don’t know how it’s going to go. You can lull them to sleep until it (a pass route) happens”.
So is the Spring Game just another dose of offseason tight end hype that will quickly fade or something real? I went straight to the source, a new channel to learn about football players called LinkedIn for answers.

I have a mixed reaction to Jace’s LinkedIn profile. He is still claiming Kansas and wearing a Kansas jacket. How is he going to use the Aggie Network dressed like this? I do like the glasses which put the “Stud” in “Student Athlete.” As you continue to peruse his profile, you’ll learn that Jace wants to get into sports marketing, sales, or communications after he graduates.
Jace self-selects into the skills of Leadership, Problem Solving, and Communication. To me, he seems like a field general or a second quarterback in the huddle. His Industry Knowledge includes Sports Marketing and Creative Writing (TaTa Thompson alert) but his Interpersonal Skills of Staff Development and Public Speaking seem critical to a late season surge. His only interest is The University of Kansas so let’s hope we don’t meet them in a bowl game.
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahahahahahahaha
Good luck, Jace. You seem to have all of the qualities I look for in a tight end.
