Daily Bull 2.13.18: Someone Talked About The Texas vs. A&M Football Game

Wow, why are people still talking about this? Clearly no one cares.

Dante Hall

MORNING LADIES & GENTS. It’s a cold and rainy Tuesday in February. Let’s put ourselves through the paces, shall we?

MISSOURI BREAKS. Remember that old warm familiar feeling of being completely forlorn and hopeless about the current Aggie sport? Well, it’s gone, thanks to a blazing run by the men hoopsters. The Ags have stopped their massive skid and somehow managed to climb back up into the Top 25. Holy hell. They’ll square off against Mizzou on the road (tonight, 6:00, ESPNU) and we guarantee if we fall behind by 4 points, Ag Twitter will be priming up the ol’ Kennedy Internet Guillotine. It’s the circle of life.

ARGLEBARGLE PLAY THE DAMN GAME. Y’all ain’t gonna believe, this, but someone’s stirring up world wide web chatter about the A&M-Texas football game. I know! The latest comes from the Horns’ 247 site, which states that Newy Scruggs doesn’t want the rivalry renewed anytime soon.

I don’t care if Texas and Texas A&M play against each other anytime soon. I’d rather see each team figure out a way to become a Top 15 team on a yearly basis. If I am Tom Herman, I wouldn’t want to play the game. Texas has more to lose than gain in my opinion.

Unbelievable. Why won’t people just let this subject die? It’s almost as though folks in a football-obsessed state would like to see the two flagship schools within its borders who also happen to be bitter historical rivals settle their differences on a football field instead of via dweebs on message boards comparing recruiting rankings, but choose to feign disinterest by informing everyone constantly how much they don’t want to see it. Wild! Anyway, this particular quote/story begs two questions:

  1. Who’s Newy Scruggs? Sounds like a Nashville producer or an ancillary character on Justified. Not being a Dallasite, I had to Google him. Turns out he’s famous for getting distracted on air when he spotted baseball fans tokin’ up at the ballpark. Anyway, his taek is interesting because
  2. ISN’T THIS EXACTLY THE OPPOSITE OF WHAT ALL THE BUSINESS CLASS CEO AGS HAVE BEEN TELLING US?
Texas has more to lose than gain in my opinion.”
UM SIR ACCORDING TO THE TEXAS A&M INTERNET, PLAYING THE GAME WOULD BENEFIT TEXAS FAR MORE THAN A&M AND WE WOULD NEVER HELP THEM BY BEATING THEM PLEASE GET YOUR FACTS ALIGNED.

Folks, the offseason is only seven more months long.

TAEK-SPEARS-EAN SONNETS. One of our favourite no-nonsense SEC personalities is bullish on Jimbo. Marcus Spears talks the Fisher hire and spells out what it means in the bigger picture of the SEC. Marcus played for Nick Saban at LSU when Jimbo ran the offense. Might be worth listening to.
