POST GAME THOUGHTS: 9 WINS BABY

HELLUVA YEAR YALL. HELLUVA YEAR.

NCAA Football: TaxSlayer Gator Bowl-Texas A&M vs North Carolina State Adam Hagy-USA TODAY Sports

The knock on this team was that we couldn’t run the ball

The knock in this team was that we couldn’t stop the run.

The knock was that we couldn’t win in November

The knock on this team was that we couldn’t win against the SEC west.

The knock on this team was that we were soft.

It ain’t gonna be like it used to be anymore.

Tonight your Fightin Texas Aggies put a fantastic bow on the 2018 season and had a helluva springboard to the 2019 season with a 52-13 thrashing of a 9 win North Carolina State football team. Fantastic win. Let’s break it down.

RUN THE DAMN BALL

We ran for 400 yards. FOUR HUNDRED YARDS. Against a team that was ranked 24th in S&P against the run. You can’t fake that. Kudos to Jim Turner and the offensive line for knuckling up after a lack luster first quarter and simply dominating the line of scrimmage. Just an outstanding night.

And let’s talk about Mr. Trayveon Williams, who finished with 19 carries for 234 yards and is now the single season rushing record holder IN TEXAS A&M HISTORY. He has done everything anyone has ever asked of him. He’s blocked his ass off and deserves to be mentioned with the best players in Texas A&M history. What a damn game for Trillveon. What a damn game. Speed to hit the corner and power to run between the tackles. That long run to ice the thing was just beautiful. So damn happy for him.

DEFENSE

I’ll be honest. I was nervous early. It seemed like our defense couldn’t get a stop in the first quarter and it seemed like it was gonna be dicey. We gave up 89 yards in the first quarter. We gave up 273 for the entire game. 184 over three quarters. 139 yards passing to a top 5 QB coming up in the NFL draft and 134 yards rushing. Don’t care who you are, that’s a pretty damn good night.

Mike Elko woke up and dominated.

YOUTH MOVEMENT

This team is set up well for the future. Yes we are losing Trillveon and a few others, but Kellen is a sophomore. All of our WRs are back. LEON ONEAL SHOWED UP AND SHOWED OUT. This team is loaded with talented young players and has an influx of talent coming in. We are trending in the right direction.

JIMBO

Hey man. 9 wins in year one. We won in November. We ran the ball and stopped the run. We beat LSU. We beat ranked teams at home.

Good year buddy. Let’s go get some more next year.

OVERALL

Thank y’all for reading all of these post game thoughts. I know I haven’t exactly been coherent or emotional stable for all of them, but man this team has been one of the most fun teams I’ve ever followed.

There are more good things to come. And I mfing cant wait.
