Adding to your already top class on signing day is great. Flipping him from another school is even better. That “other school” being your head coach’s previous stomping grounds? That is the triple aim, my friends. Aggies get to enjoy the euphoria of a top defensive end commit combined with the schadenfreude of seeing Florida State fans whine thanks to the signing day flip of four-star Derick Hunter.

Hunter originally committed to the Seminoles in June, but he visited College Station this fall, had an in-home visit with Jimbo Fisher earlier this month, and 247 Crystal Ball predictions began swinging A&M’s way in the days leading up to the start of the early signing period. Hunter is the second Aggie commit in this class from the state of Florida, joining linebacker Tarian Lee Jr.
At 6’5” and 285 pounds, Hunter definitely has the size to play in the SEC, and his scholarship offer list reflect that. It includes offers from FSU, Miami, Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Oklahoma, Notre Dame and many many others. This is a big get for Jimbo Fisher, and a cherry on top of a 2019 recruiting class currently ranked third in the country.
