Good morning, crowd. We’re not going to do links today. There is no new angle or perspective to Saturday’s game that will make any of it better in any way. Despite all our hopes and reassurances, here we are limping into November barely clinging to the wreckage of the Top 25 and grasping at the frailest tendrils of hope as they drift by.
On the other hand, we’ll be *technically ranked in November playing a road game against the other bipolar SEC West school in a weird series where the home team has never won. And you know what? We’re going to finagle some numbers here and declare via Winsipedia that we had a 101-year win streak against Auburn. When we played three games: 1911, 1986, and 2012.
There’s no right way to process the frustrations that result from such an underwhelming performance. We all know better than to invest ourselves so emotionally on the ups and downs of a college sports team, yet the entire impetus that drives us to do so is that intangible appeal of the sport that draws us to it. Eject from the internet for a couple days (sometimes the best content is no content; your mileage may very). Get lost in the minutae of your work. Take a long drive and look at things or something. You know you’ll be back in time for the next kickoff.
We’ve only got one more full month of this stuff, and it’s only going to be as fun as you make it. Beat the hell outta Auburn, and beat the hell outta this week, too.
