HAPPY WEDNESDAY. Just checking in around the College Football Internet to see where various outlets have the Ags going in the postseason.
ESPN: Texas Bowl vs. Iowa State. The Cyclones are the feel-good team with the popular young coach. Their best win was last weekend’s dominant performance over #6 WVU. Their worst loss was a bruising 13-3 rivalry game against unranked Iowa.
USA Today: Outback Bowl vs. Michigan State. There we go, a New Year’s Day bowl. Pitting two of the top three rushing defenses in college football against each other could lead to creative playcalling. Or just some bad offense.
Sports Illustrated: Texas Bowl vs. TCU. The Turnover Bowl. Both of these teams have been awful in the turnover margin category this year but a Gary Patterson-Jimbo Fisher press conference could be a scene-stealer.
CBS Sports: Outback Bowl vs. Michigan State. Do a better job shielding your submission form from wandering eyes in the future please, USA Today.
SB Nation: Gator Bowl vs. Minnesota. Hell yeah, let’s get crazy here. These two schools have never played each other.
Sporting News: Gator Bowl vs. Wisconsin. Another solid test for the now-great Aggie run defense. These folks can tailgate, too.
Bleacher Report: Gator Bowl vs. Michigan State. We didn’t get the memo, but apparently everyone else did.
So those are our options according to prognosticators after seven weeks of football: A Florida bowl against a bruising B1G team or the Texas Bowl against a scrappy Big 12 squad. No one’s shoehorned Texas into any of these. Way to go, Tom Herman.
