There are only two college football games on Sunday evening: Texas A&M vs. UCLA and West Virginia vs. Virginia Tech. The hurricane will be talked about plenty during the various games being broadcast over the previous few days, but this is a nice stage to really drive it home to a national audience. Good move all around.
O CAPTAIN MY CAPTAIN.
The 2017 Aggie Football team captains were announced recently. Included are two offensive players, two defensive players, and one representing special teams:

It’s rare to see a sophomore chosen, which tells us that Trayveon Williams is a special player all-around, not just in his outstanding on-field performance. Gillaspia is the 12th Man, so that’s a home run choice right there, and Christian Kirk could potentially play every skill position at some point this season, maybe a couple field goal attempts thrown in for good measure. But the really fun one is the pair of senior safeties repping the defense. These guys have been wreaking havoc in the secondary together now for years. They play fast and loose and both of them have a knack for somehow being in the middle of whatever’s going on. Both are fantastic at forcing turnovers, and they feed of each other’s energy. Building a defense around a couple of players like this when replacing such key members of the front seven is a great move. We’ll get to watch them all kick it off in four days.
Are you ready for some football?
