Y’all have a good one.

Happy early holiday. If you’re a poor soul grinding away at work on this poorly-positioned Monday, kudos to you. Gather here and Internet.

ICYMI, etc. Tomorrow’s American’s Independence Day. Saturday was the 5-year mark of Aggie Independence Day. rcb05 commemorates in this piece. What was your favorite moment? Mine was that one funny meme that once. Hey, did you know that people had strong opinions on “best in Texas” lists? It’s true. Jimmy shared some of the best dive bars in the state and got plenty of feedback. Rumour has it he even attained blogger nirvana: got well-actually’d by an elected official. GREAT WORK.

WHO LIKES GETTING OUTRAGED BY MEANINGLESS LISTS, YOU SAY? Well, college football fans, that’s who. The Sporting News dropped another pointless preseason Top 25 yesterday, and let’s just dissect their paragraph for #21, shall we?

Collin Johnson enjoyed a monster spring game with 117 yards and two TDs, and that’s good news for sophomore quarterback Shane Buechele.

Who? Hmm, ok. Predicting a season’s performance on a glorified internal scrimmage is like saying that kid you saw on YouTube who reenacts Shakespeare with his mastiff is going to win an Oscar. It’s a bit premature and assumes that the dog won’t win on a level playing field.

Tom Herman will make an instant impact on this program in Year 1,

This is sheer speculation, but it has been repeated so much at this point that people just assume it is true.

but the question is whether the Longhorns are ready to compete for a Big 12 championship.

Is it? I would assume the question is whether or not they can reach six wins and bowl eligibility.

Isn't that always the question?

No. See previous. It hasn’t been the question for several years.

Well, there you go. Now you can get through your Monday armored with a dutiful sense of indignation. Go easy on the sparklers, slather on the sunblock, and just be safe in general out there, folks.
