2017 NCAA Regional: Aggies Take On Cougars

Playing with house money, the Ags have a chance to win the whole damn thing

After finding themselves as one of the last four teams admitted into the 2017 NCAA Baseball Tournament, Texas A&M now sits 2-0 in the Houston Regional. That means with one win today over the hosting Houston Cougars, the Texas Aggie Baseballers would advance to their third straight Super Regional. Just like we all predicted.

The Aggies took game one of the weekend against Baylor in come-from-behind fashion, using a five-run sixth inning to take down the Bears. On Saturday evening, Cole Bedford’s fourth inning three-run shot was all they needed to send Iowa to the losers bracket. Corbin Martin had one of his best performances in an Aggie uniform, tossing seven dazzling innings of two-run baseball, striking out nine Hawkeyes hitters.

Today, they’ll take on Houston in the regional championship game, and thanks to some Cinderella magic up in Chapel Hill, the regional champ will get the opportunity to host the Super next weekend. I’d say today holds some pretty big implications. The good news for the Aggies? UH has to beat them twice, and they’ve used all three of their regular weekend starters. They’re in the driver’s seat. House money. All of the cliches apply.
