Kevin Sumlin and Texas A&M football started the summer off with a bang on Friday as they landed two of the top defensive players in Texas. Leon O’Neal Jr., a four-star safety from Cy Springs, and Max Wright, a four-star defensive end from Katy Taylor, committed simultaneously via a Twitter video.

This defensive duo are now the two highest-rated players in the Aggies’ 2018 recruiting class, and both are ranked among the top 10 players in Texas and the top 10 players at their position nationally by 247 Sports. They both held a mile-long offer list that included Alabama, LSU, Michigan, Southern Cal and Texas, just to name a few.
These additions vault A&M’s class ranking from 30th up to 13th, with nine commits thus far.
