The US Open at Erin Hills will be visited by three Aggie golfers on Thursday.
THE GHOST OF AGGIE GOLF PAST
Ryan Palmer - A 2000 grad of A&M, Ryan spent a couple of years on the mini tours before earning his PGA Tour card in 2004. This will be Ryan’s seventh start in a US Open and earned his start through qualifying at the Dallas sectional. Ryan’s a good dude and fun to follow on Tour. His best round at the US Open is 69. Nice.
THE GHOST OF AGGIE GOLF PRESENT
Cameron Champ - Just wrapped up his junior year at A&M by being named to the first team All-SEC golf team and finishing the season ranked 27th in the country. Cam qualified for the last spot out of the Newport Beach sectional by draining a 30 foot putt on the first playoff hole. He’s represented the Aggie golf team very well during his time at A&M, and is set for a strong senior season next year. He will tee off on Thursday on his 22nd birthday. I spent my 22nd birthday hammering drinks at Ptarmigan’s and playing Galaga. So pretty close to the same thing.
THE GHOST OF AGGIE GOLF FUTURE
Walker Lee - This 19 year old just graduated from high school and will be a freshman on the golf team at A&M this fall. The lefty qualified by shooting 10 under at the Dallas sectional at Lakewood Country Club. Walker has a bright future ahead of him and playing in the US Open a few weeks after graduating high school is really awesome. I think he’s the next Danny Noonan.
