A VERY DISTINGUISHED GENTLEMAN. Put your hands together for Alex Sezer. He was awarded the Distinguished Letterman’s Award last night at the (Bill Byrne-inspired) Building Champions Awards Gala. This isn’t some empty trophy: Maggie Malone, his counterpart on the Women’s side, went to the dang Olympics last summer. This is tons of hard work to go along with natural ability.
Sezer, a three-year letterman with the Aggie football team, graduated magna cum laude with a degree in engineering-industrial distribution and a minor in business. Sezer served as team captain during the 2016 season and earned football's Aggie Heart Award. Sezer has been named to the All-SEC Academic team twice while being on the SEC honor roll and Texas A&M AD honor roll every year. He also received the 2016 FCA College Character of Excellence Award this year. Sezer was a Leadership Class Captain for football, and his community involvement has included serving as a volunteer with Special Olympics, Twin City Missions, the Big Event and Aggies CAN.
Yeah, that’s pretty much the definition of “distinguished.”

TEXAS BACK, Y’ALL. You may have noticed (or not, depending on your level of engagement masochism) a rash of “five year plan” posts around the network yesterday. We, of course, went with the macabre-tinged, resigned-to-fate flavor of detachment that you’ve come to depend on here. But not everyone was so doggedly restrained from tempting fate. No, our counterparts over at Burnt Orange TexAgs had no qualms about laying out their own Fyre Fest-inspired ambitions for the future. Just read through this fevered dream and then imagine the harsh and stringent awakening that must come at the end when they remember they lost to Kansas last year. It’s almost entertaining.
SHAAAAAAAN. To piggyback on the rest of the Aggie UFA announcements, LB Shaan Washington has signed with the Vikings. Best of luck, SW.
YES COACH BLAIR. WBB head coach Gary Blair received a nice contract extension over the weekend. Look, the guy’s already in the Hall of Fame. Just give him whatever he wants at this point. And tell him to recruit more Labharts.
FOOTBALL: THE FUTURE. Look, there are no easy answers. But every so often, things need to be fixed. Spencer Hall talks about ways to do that with football without compromising the things we love about it.

Surprise! It’s May, it’s warming up, and you’ve been gifted a nice 3-day weekend to take a trip anywhere in Texas. Pile in the car Thursday after work and forget it all. Where do you go?
