It’s our favorite time of year—where it’s socially acceptable to gorge on massive amounts of chocolate or gummy candy at all hours of the day. And also to find out which of your coworkers are uber-nerds when a whole department shows up in Star Trek cosplay garb complete with light sabers and unicorns and shit.
We’ve entered the nihilistic phase of the football season, and we’ll probably be on cruise control for the duration. So today we’re going for a stroll 20 years down memory lane.
1997 Oklahoma State vs. Texas A&M.
This game was #wellactually the day after Halloween, but students were all dressed up anyway. This was the first-ever overtime game at Kyle Field. The Aggies were coming off back-to-back losses at Kansas State and in Lubbock, and this game would propel them to an undefeated November and a spot in the Big 12 title game where absolutely nothing untoward happened, nope, not that we have any recollection of.
Oklahoma State finished second in the Big 12 South that year. Texas and OU finished fourth and fifth, respectively.
Anyway, look at all that swarming defense and inept offense! Really takes you back, doesn’t it? Sure glad we don’t have to endure that any more.
Pop a few gummies, stash some Reese’s in your desk drawer for future emergencies, and have a hell of a Halloween.
