QUIET OFFSEASON IS BEST OFFSEASON. Our week 3 tilt at Auburn got a little easier with yesterday’s news that starting Auburn RB Jovon Robinson has been dismissed from the team.
Robinson, who missed five games due to an ankle injury, rushed for 639 yards rushing and three touchdowns with five 90-plus yard outings in the final six games, including 126 yards and a score en route to being named Birmingham Bowl MVP.
It is unclear where Robinson, who has one year of eligibility remaining, could look to end his college career.
If you blocked last year’s game from your memory (please teach me how to do this), Robinson had 27 carries for 159 and a TD at Kyle Field. I’m gonna go ahead and chalk this up as good news.
MORE FOOTBALL, BUT THE KIND WHERE WE’RE AMAZING. Our Texas A&M Women’s Soccer program checked in at #8 in the NSCAA Preseason Poll, joining Florida (#7), Auburn (#12), and Ole Miss (#22) from the SEC.
Congratulations are also in order for Junior Midfielder Stephanie Malherbe, who made the South African Olympic squad. Stephanie got the start in South Africa’s 1-0 defeat to Sweden.
Finally, Kyle Field isn’t the only building on campus hosting a massive home opener. Aggie Soccer opens their 2016 campaign at Ellis Field against #1 Florida State on Friday, August 19th.
FORCED BASKETBALL SEGUE. I shoehorn basketball into every DB, and that streak will not end today.
Season tickets are now on sale.

Is this pertinent to today's DB? Not really.
Is it an excuse to post a basketball picture that says SEC Champs? Abso-freakin-lutely.
