Aggies in the Olympics: Days 6 and 7 Recap

Texas Aggie track and field athletes were very active on day 7 of the Rio Olympics.

Bralon Taplin of Grenada won his heat in the men’s 400 meters at 45.15 seconds to advance to the semi-finals. Taplin runs again at 6:44 PM on Saturday. Trinidad & Tobago’s Deon Lendore missed the semi-finals in the same event at 46.15 seconds.

Fabrice Lapierre advanced to the men’s long jump final with a distance of 7.96 meters on Friday. The final will be held Saturday night at 6:53 PM.

Jennifer Madu (11.61 seconds) and Brenessa Thompson (11.72 seconds) both missed the semi-finals in the women’s 100 meters.

In basketball, DeAndre Jordan scored 13 points as Team USA edged Serbia 94-91. The US will play France on Sunday at 12:15 PM. On Thursday, Antanas Kavaliauskas did not score in Lithuania’s 81-73 win over Argentina. Lithuania next plays Spain at 5:00 PM on Saturday.

Swimmer Liliana Ibanez Lopez of Mexico failed to advance to the semi-final in the women’s 50m freestyle with a time of 25.25 seconds.
