Two months ago, our 2016-2017 roster was looking awfully frontloaded... but Coach Kennedy and staff made yet another addition to the back court.
Aggie fans might remember Caleb Smith as the dynamic force behind Bridgeport’s tear through the 2015 4A UIL state tournament, most notably in a game against Admon Gilder’s Dallas Madison in the state semi-finals. Smith (25 points, 8 boards) and Gilder (27 points, 12 boards) went toe-to-toe for the entire evening (an evening apparently played without big men grabbing rebounds), and Bridgeport prevailed. Smith had ice water in his veins down the stretch, going 9-11 from the stripe.
Smith spent his senior year at Notre Dame Prep in Massachusetts. He doesn’t figure to challenge for significant playing time early, but by all accounts he appears to be capable of legitimate rotation minutes down the road. Here’s a quick look at our newest member in action:
Welcome aboard, Caleb.
