YESSIR! Texas A&M adds four-star linebacker to 2017 class

IMG Academy’s Santino Marchiol commits to Texas A&M

Student Sports

Defensive YESSIRs are the best YESSIRs. Head Coach Kevin Sumlin continued Texas A&M’s June recruiting run on Tuesday night when the Aggies secured a commitment from four-star linebacker Santino Marchiol from IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. Marchiol is the 14th commit in A&M’s 2017 class, and the 6th to give a commitment this month. He would also supplant Jordan Mastrogiovanni as the most Italian-sounding Aggie linebacker.

Marchiol is one of several IMG Academy players who hold an A&M scholarship offer, including tight end Tre McKitty, four-star safety Grand Delprit and former Baylor commits Jhamon Ausbon (four-star receiver) and Kellen Mond (four-star quarterback). Can you say Florida Five? But Marchiol is a vital commitment all on his own, with an impressive scholarship offer list that includes Florida, Florida State, Miami, Mississippi State, Nebraska, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Penn State and Stanford. That gust of wind you just felt was Kevin Sumlin brushing his shoulders off.

A&M’s 2017 class is currently ranked 11th in the country by 247 Sports. We won’t talk about Texas, because they aren’t our rival, but their current ranking rhymes with schmirty schmeven.

Now put on the Godfather soundtrack as you sit back and enjoy Santino Marchiol’s junior year highlights.
