SPORTS FANDOM IS UNIMAGINABLY CRUEL. No clever tagline here, ladies and gents. Our Aggies were eliminated last night, dropping a 4-1 decision to TCU in Game 3 of the College Station Super Regional. It was an uncharacteristically poor evening for the Maroon and White; rife with walks, errors, and poor plate discipline.
The four TCU runs? A passed ball, a wild pitch, a bases loaded walk, and a sacrifice fly.
That's a rough final outing for a fantastic group of Seniors.
Childress: They were servants to one another. They gave everything they had to each other and to A&M. Favorite team to coach in 25 years.

I love Texas A&M with all my heart...I'm so sorry we couldn't make it happen.

If you'd like to know where these guys are headed at the next level, we've got you covered.
START THE CHANT OKAY MAYBE STOP THE CHANT. The self-appointed "best conference in college baseball" did not make a very good account of itself this weekend, as four separate hosts (Texas A&M, LSU, South Carolina, and Mississippi State) failed to advance.
Misery loves company, I suppose:

The only remaining SEC team (Florida) plays their deciding game tonight. If they lose, a group of teams that hosted seven Regionals and five Super Regionals will have no representation in Omaha. Meanwhile, the much-maligned Big XII will send three teams to the 'ship (TCU, Oklahoma State, and Texas Tech).
One conference showed up to play this weekend, and one conference did not. Perhaps we cool it with the "LOL BIG XII BASEBALL IS TRASH" taeks until further notice.
DON’T DO ANYTHING RASH. Subsets of Aggie Twitter had a calm series of subtle, nuanced taeks were unbelievably calling for Rob Childress to be fired last night, which is one of the dumbest things this blog has ever seen.
Here’s a quick look at his last ten years at the helm.
- 10 NCAA Tournament appearances
- 2 Regular Season Conference Titles (Big XII)
- 4 Conference Tournament Titles (3 Big XII, 1 SEC)
- 5 Super Regional appearances
- 1 CWS appearance
Do we have a national title? No. Are we consistently strong and capable of making noise on a regular basis? Yes. If we held our football coaches to this standard, would we have a new HC right now? Also yes.
The right guy is in charge, Ags. Take a deep breath, and let’s run it back next year.
