Donovan Wilson confirms return for senior year

Nickel corner should help solidify 2017 secondary

NCAA Football: Tennessee at Texas A&M Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

Kevin Sumlin and the Aggies may be gearing up for their match-up with Kansas State in the Advocare V100 Texas Bowl next week, but they got some good news about their 2017 squad on Wednesday with the announcement that cornerback Donovan Wilson will indeed return for his senior season.

Wilson had a relatively quiet 2016 season when compared to his five interceptions and three forced fumbles in 2015, but he will no doubt be a difference-maker for the Aggie defense in 2017. The return of Wilson as well as safety Armani Watts means that the Texas A&M secondary will lose only senior safety Justin Evans from the 2016 squad. Add in Justin Dunning, who is recovering from a torn ACL, and the potential commitment of former Alabama safety Kendall Sheffield, and the secondary could be a big strength for the Aggies heading into next season.
