Preview/GameThread: Texas A&M vs. CS Northridge

The Aggies (2-1) open the DirecTV Wooden Legacy with CS Northridge (2-2) this afternoon, the first of three games in four days in Fullerton, CA. (1:00pm; ESPN3)

Ray Carlin-USA TODAY Sports

There's no other way to put it: Aggie Hoops cratered down the stretch in a 65-63 loss to USC on Friday. The good news, however, is that the Ags scheduled a decent tournament with a strong field over Thanksgiving break and drew a weak opening around opponent to make those latter RPI-friendly games more likely.

First things first, though. We gotta wipe last Friday off the slate and take care of Cal State Northridge.

Time: 1:00pm

Location: Fullerton, CA

TV: ESPN3 (direct link to the game site)

Name: CS Northridge Matadors

Conference: Big West

Preseason Outlook: 3rd of 9

Previous results of note: Made things uncomfortable at #16 UCLA before succumbing to a 2nd half run, blown away at Stanford, won their two games against non P5 opponents

Player to watch: Kendall Smith; currently filling the stat sheet to the tune of 17 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, and two steals per game

Here's a quick look at the bracket

This is our first game in a non-friendly environment, but it should be pretty straightforward. The talent gap is pretty noticeable, and the line (A&M -11) reflects that.

If things go well today, we'll play the Virginia Tech / New Mexico winner at 4:30 tomorrow on ESPN2
