Texas A&M Head Coach Kevin Sumlin would tell you that "it took everybody" to notch a season-opening win over 15th-ranked Arizona State, but the Southeastern Conference recognized two players who had particularly big roles in the Aggies' statement-making victory.
On Monday, true freshman receiver Christian Kirk was named SEC Freshman of the Week and junior defensive end Daeshon Hall was named SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week.

Kirk made a big statement against his home-state team, scoring touchdowns on a 79-yard punt return in the second quarter and a crucial 66-yard receiver screen in the fourth quarter.

While Myles Garrett got a lot of the attention, Daeshon Hall piled up the defensive stats, including four sacks and two forces fumbles. Upon further review, he doesn't get the sack on this play, but with so many Aggie defenders in the backfield it was sometimes hard to tell.
