Court Documents Show LSU Offered John Chavis 5.4mm for 3 years

The Advocate reports this evening that newly released court documents from the legal battle between LSU and former defensive coordinator John Chavis show that LSU offered Chavis 1.8mm per year for 3 years on the night of the Music City bowl. Documents also show that Chavis grew unhappy with LSU Athletic Director when he refused to take a "Les Miles Clause" out of his new contract offer. The clause would allow LSU to terminate Chavis if Miles left or was terminated from LSU. One other note is that Chavis offered to stay for 30 days before taking the A&M job, and he worked with LSU head coach Les Miles on contacting recruits to ensure a smooth transition to a new defensive coordinator.
