Texas A&M vs. UNC-Asheville Preview/GameThread

Our 3-0 Aggies can't miss offensively, but consumer beware... the visiting Bulldogs took Rick Barnes' Tennessee to the limit in Knoxville. (3:00pm; SEC Network+; WatchESPN)

Lather, rinse, repeat. Amazing shooting, fluid movement on offense, and incredibly unselfish basketball.

Our Aggies looked fantastic on offense for the third night running. Now, on to this afternoon's opponent.

But seriously, they almost beat Tennessee

The flood of early SEC losses (and near-misses) have almost rendered us numb to things like this... but it's still worth considering. UNC-Asheville walked into an SEC arena eight days ago and went toe-to-toe with a P5 school. They outrebounded the Vols, they out-hustled the Vols, and they had every chance to win that game.

I doubt they'll be fazed by the November Reed Arena crowds.

They also couldn't handle the Mountain Cats

Yes, that's the same Western Carolina our football team played on Senior Night. No, I won't call them the Catamounts. You can't just re-arrange words and mash letters together to create new words. That's not how words work.

UNC Asheville struggled at Western Carolina this past Sunday, which implies (with an admittedly small sample size) that they tend to play to the level of their competition. It will be interesting to see how they come out of the gate this afternoon.

Overall, it should be more of the same

The Bulldogs hail from the Big South conference, where they were picked to finish seventh of eleven teams. They are a middle-of-the-pack squad from a one-bid conference, and we really shouldn't have any trouble. Sure, they scared Tennessee... but we have shown no inclination towards that type of let down. At all.

This has been a focused, ruthless, impressive squad through three games. There's no reason to think the train stops here.
