Texas A&M Thursday Recruiting Notes

We're less than one week away from National Signing Day.

Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

Tension is building in Aggieland as the Texas Longhorns attempt to make a late push on Texas A&M legacy Kyler Murray (5-star QB) and several other key prospects. On social media, Longhorn commits, fans, and analysts are exuding tremendous confidence. Defensive line coach Chris Rumph's wife (Rumph is the main recruiter for Daylon Mack and others) recently tweeted:

It's not all doom and gloom, as the Aggies had an opportunity to take in-home visits with DT Daylon Mack and CB Kris Boyd on Wednesday and will have a chance to sit down with Kyler Murray on Thursday evening.

Mack tweeted a photo with the Aggie coaches during his visit, and he was clearly on his way to giving a gig 'em handsign when it was taken:

Mack cancelled his unofficial visit to TCU this weekend which seems like good news for the Aggies and Longhorns.

Texas A&M offered Kris Boyd's brother following their visit, but it's unclear if this is coming from a position of strength or weakness (let us know, ok?):

Aggie linebacker Josh Walker, who is very close to the Boyds, seems to think this is good news.

So what's the story on Kyler Murray? Analysts are all over the map which suggests that the Murrays are playing everything close to the vest. More info should emerge following in-home visits from Kevin Sumlin (Thursday) and Charlie Strong (Friday).

Kyler Murray and wide receiver DaMarkus Lodge, who took an unofficial visit to Austin last week, will not take official visits to Texas this weekend per reports. Lodge recently tripped to Oxford, MS which is a potential landing spot.

Schedule of events:

  • Thursday: Texas A&M in-home visit with Kyler Murray
  • Friday: Texas in-home visit with Kyler Murray; Kris Boyd and DB Holton Hill announcements
  • Wednesday (NSD): DaMarkus Lodge 11:00 am; Daylon Mack 11:30 am
