For close to a decade, recruiting in January was a little boring for fans to follow. Between Mack Brown locking down most of the state's top talent in 8th grade by the end of their junior years, and an A&M program struggling to land elite prospects, the last few weekends of the recruiting season didn't hold much intrigue.
Not anymore.
Kevin Sumlin has quickly made Texas A&M a force on the recruiting scene, and nowhere is this more evident than in the last few weekends of the recruiting cycle, as the Aggies find themselves fighting off national heavyweights for some of the highest-priority prospects in the country.
Even the fickle recruiting weather gods seem to have their priorities in order.
Can the weather in college station stay like this all semester #niceday

Uncommitted prospects expected in town include:
Soso Jamabo – RB | Plano
#ESPN300 RB Soso Jamabo is scheduled to OV Texas A&M Jan. 16. Would be big OV for #Gigem if it happens. http://t.co/UmNWlshQUG
— Gerry Hamilton (@HamiltonESPN) January 14, 2015
The consensus 5 star could excel at a number of positions at the collegiate level, but the A&M staff is just happy to have him on campus. Most think Jamabo is headed to UCLA, but the Aggies have enough voices in his ear to at least keep things interesting.
Damarkus Lodge – WR | Cedar Hill
Well, hello again old friend.
Just touched down in College Station✊
— DaMarkus Lodge (@DaMarkusLodge18) January 16, 2015
The former A&M commit seems to be giving the Aggies another chance, even without a wide receiver coach in place. Yet. There's certainly some ground to be made up with Ole Miss here, but hopefully the conversation between Sumlin and Lodge this weekend goes better than his texts with Ashley.
Ashley just not gone reply to my text I knew it.. SMH

Daylon Mack – DT | Gladewater
Aggieland bound in the morning! It's been a while...
— THEE MACK TRUCK (@DaylonMack) January 16, 2015
Not much to see here, just one of the best defensive tackles in the country at a need position who happens to be a former commit coming into town. Expect John Chavis and the A&M staff roll out the red carpet this weekend... or whatever color he likes. Not purple.
Justin Martin – CB | Northeastern Oklahoma A&M
The #1 JUCO corner in the country, A&M offered late, but still managed to nab an official visit. Currently committed to Tennessee, Martin will be tough to flip as he's originally from Nashville. Then again, a brief look at the current cornerback depth chart in College Station may be rather appealing.
College station today

Dwaine Thomas – LB | Boutte Hahnville
A speedy, undersized linebacker out of Louisiana, Thomas is headed to A&M in hopes of receiving a formal offer.
On my way to College Station

Expected committed prospects include:
Jay Bradford – RB | Splendora
Despite the Aggies seemingly offering just about every top running back in the country over the past 2 weeks, the US Army All-American remains a solid A&M pledge.
CSTAT BOUND!!!!!❤ #Home
— Jay Bradford (@Bradford20Jb) January 16, 2015
Deshawn Capers-Smith – DB | Warren Easton
The past few weeks have seen Capers-Smith named both Louisiana Mr. Football, and the Gatorade Player of the Year in the Bayou state.
Taking my official to Texas A&M today .
— JANUARY1⃣2⃣. (@ThatsLEFTY117) January 16, 2015
Justin Dunning – S | Whitehouse
Committed to A&M since early November, the 6'3", 205 pound safety seemed ready for his official.
Leaving after school for A&M so this school day hurry and end
— Justin Dunning™ (@JD3Thousand) January 16, 2015
Roney Elam – DB | Newton
The rangy Safety/Corner prospect, who is taking an official visit, might have the highest ceiling of any A&M defensive back commit, and you readers feel free to call or text Roney to tell him - wait. No, don't do that.
My phone ain't working
— Roney Elam Jr (@RoneyJr_) January 16, 2015
Trevor Elbert – OL | Rockwall-Heath
Another US Army All-American, Elbert hurt his shoulder early on this fall, but should be ready to go when he arrives in College Station.
Almost the entire '15 class is coming down this weekend
— Trevor Elbert (@74BIGtrev74) January 16, 2015
Feels good to be back in College Station
— Trevor Elbert (@74BIGtrev74) January 16, 2015
Connor Lanfear – OL | Jack C Hays
The onetime Longhorn commit seems to be excited about the weekend.
Back in Cstat! Been too long!
— Connor Lanf (@connorlanfear74) January 16, 2015
Kyler Murray – QB | Allen
DA GAWD.
Congrats to @TheKylerMurray for being named the USA Today high school offensive player of the year! @USATsportsImage pic.twitter.com/WzhbygI7ez
— Kevin Jairaj (@kevinjairaj) December 24, 2014
Larry Pryor – DB | Sulphur Springs
Just another highly ranked defensive prospect that happens to live within an hour and a half of Gladewater.
Yessirrr
— Larry Pryor Jr. (@LP18_Era) January 17, 2015
Kemah Siverand – WR | Cy Ridge
While other wide receivers have come and go, Siverand has stayed strong in his pledge, even after his position coach left for Kansas. He's on an official visit.
College Station's very own. #GigEm pic.twitter.com/kOP2UarH9k
— Kemah Siverand (@TheKSiverand) January 5, 2015
Erik McCoy – OC | Lufkin
6'3" and a half and 299 pounds. Dave Christensen will catch up with the lineman commit.
Headed to Aggieland!
— Salty Cowboys Fan (@Erik_McCoy_73) January 16, 2015
Kingsley KeKe – DT | George Ranch
The DT has been committed to A&M since June.
Official visit to A&M with the bro @Templeike this weekend (16-18)
